Why water treatment comes first

Water decides your product quality and your running costs

Water is the main ingredient in bottled water, soft drinks and juices, and a critical utility in every food plant. Hard water scales boilers and heat exchangers. Iron stains equipment and changes taste. Poorly treated water shortens shelf life and damages brand trust.

Two sources a few kilometres apart can need completely different treatment. That is why every Maticline water treatment plant starts with a laboratory analysis of your source and is sized for its real seasonal variation, not a standard package.

Water treatment technologies

The right stages for your water

We combine these technologies according to your analysis and the quality each use requires.

Multimedia filtration

Sand and media filters remove suspended solids and turbidity, protecting every stage downstream.

ForTurbid borehole, river and surface water

Activated carbon filtration

Removes chlorine, odours, colour and organic compounds that affect taste.

ForMunicipal water and taste-sensitive drinks

Water softening

Ion-exchange softeners remove hardness to prevent scaling in boilers, heat exchangers and pasteurisers.

ForHard water, boiler feed, process water

Iron & manganese removal

Oxidation and catalytic filtration remove iron and manganese that stain equipment and spoil taste.

ForMany West African borehole sources

Ultrafiltration (UF)

Membranes remove bacteria, particles and turbidity while keeping natural minerals.

ForSpring and mineral water

Reverse osmosis (RO)

Removes dissolved salts and contaminants for consistent purified water, with optional remineralisation for taste.

ForPurified water, CSD and juice water, brackish sources

UV disinfection

Ultraviolet treatment inactivates microorganisms without adding chemicals to the water.

ForProduct water and final safety barrier

Ozone treatment

Ozone disinfects water, storage tanks and bottles, protecting bottled water in the pack.

ForBottled water lines

Storage & distribution

Hygienic stainless steel tanks, pumps and piping, cleaned by CIP, keep treated water clean to the point of use.

ForEvery plant

Applications

Water treatment for every part of the plant

Utility water

Process, CIP & boiler feed

Softened and filtered water for cleaning, steam and cooling in food plants such as tomato processing.

How a project runs

Six steps from water sample to treated water

  1. Water sampling

Samples taken from your source, ideally across dry and rainy seasons.

  2. Laboratory analysis

Physical, chemical and microbiological analysis of the raw water.

  3. Process design

Treatment stages and capacities selected for your water and each use in the plant.

  4. Manufacture & testing

Equipment built and tested under ISO 9001 quality control.

  5. Installation & commissioning

On-site installation, start-up and verification of treated water quality.

  6. Training & service

Operator training, consumables, spare parts and ongoing support from our teams in Africa.

Frequently asked questions

Water treatment questions

Why do you analyse the water before recommending equipment?

Every source is different. Hardness, iron, manganese, salinity, organic matter and microbiology decide which treatment stages you need and how they must be sized. Designing from a laboratory analysis avoids clogged filters, fouled membranes and unstable water quality.

Do I need reverse osmosis or ultrafiltration?

Reverse osmosis removes dissolved salts and is used to produce purified water or to treat brackish and hard water. Ultrafiltration removes particles, bacteria and turbidity while keeping natural minerals, which suits spring water. The water analysis tells us which one fits.

Can you treat water for a whole factory, not just for bottling?

Yes. We design treatment for product water, process water, CIP and boiler feed water, so the whole plant runs on water of the right quality.

Is Maticline certified for water treatment equipment?

Yes. Maticline holds ISO 9001 certification for the manufacture of water treatment equipment and CE attestation for its bottled water production lines.
